national-convention imageNational Convention is more than meeting sisters from all points of the compass or applauding your chapter as you win a coveted award. It’s an important meeting where the voting convention  delegates — the supreme governing body of the sorority — transact the business of Kappa Delta. They vote on changes in the bylaws, adopt resolutions and policies, and elect the members of the National Council.

Conventions are held every two years at hotels and resorts in various parts of the country. Sites vary from one coast to the other, and sometimes in between, to enable sisters from nearby locales to attend economically. They are planned by the national headquarters staff and the National Council.

Each chapter and alumnae association may send one voting delegate to the convention; all other Kappa Deltas are encouraged to attend as visitors. Some collegians attend convention as pages and assist
    in event implementation.

National Convention 2011 is June 29 – July 2 at the Marriott Starr Pass Resort and Spa in Tucson, Arizona.

    Kappa Delta annouces The Academy

Kappa Delta Sorority’s National Collegiate Training Academy
    Atlanta, Georgia
    February 2012

More than 1,600 members will convene for Kappa Delta Sorority’s inaugural National Collegiate Training Academy February 10-12, 2012 at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis in Atlanta, Ga. Every chapter will send its ten executive chapter officers (council and the Panhellenic Delegate) and an advisor to “The Academy” where each will follow a specific meeting track for her office. Kappa Delta national leadership team members and professionals in various fields will lead attendees to identify their strengths, learn to work as a team, implement the programs and initiatives of the sorority, and successfully carry out their duties in the chapter.

“The skills our members will learn at The Academy and use in the chapter are ones that will serve them well throughout life,” said Kappa Delta National President Beth Martin Langford. “We are excited to be able to provide this opportunity for our collegiate leaders to be their best, for stronger members make for an even stronger Kappa Delta.”

The Academy will replace Kappa Delta’s Presidents and Emerging Leaders Conference that was previously held each February in Memphis, Tenn.

Please save these dates and join us for our first National Collegiate Training Academy! More details to follow at www.kappadelta.org
